• Attend an Open House
    Open Houses are information sessions which are held from mid-October through February.
    School tours are scheduled to accommodate parents who have not had an opportunity to attend an Open House. Tours can be scheduled by emailing admissions@themidschool.org or by calling the school’s office at (301)567-9101. Parents are asked to arrange to come without their children. Children will have an opportunity to visit later in the application process.
  • Submit an Application
    Application Forms are accepted from September through February. The deadline for
    submitting applications is February 28, 2023. Each application should be accompanied by
    the $100 application fee which is payable by Visa, MasterCard, or check. Forms can also be
    downloaded from our website.
  • Schedule a Classroom Visit (after submission of the application)
    All candidates for admission to MIDS must participate in a structured classroom evaluation.
    Students are required to attend class at MIDS for half a day and work along with current
    MIDS students. Teachers provide grade-level work and applicants are assessed based on
    their performance during the classroom visit. Classroom visits are conducted in January and
    February from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
  • Arrange for submission of School Recommendation – due April 30.
    The recommendation form can be downloaded from our website. It should be completed
    by your child’s current teacher or daycare provider and sent by them directly to MIDS. If
    the child has not attended pre-school or daycare no recommendation is required.
  • Submit the Parent Questionnaire – due April 30.
    The form is available to be downloaded from our website. Parents can fax or e-mail
    their responses.
  • Submit all Evaluations, Assessments, and Standardized Tests – due April 30.
    Optional MIDS may require additional information or parents may submit material to be
    included in considering their child for admission MIDS.
  • Parent Interviews (after submission of application)
    Parents may be required to meet with the Head of School or a member of the admissions
    committee for an individual conference after submitting an application for admission.
  • Receive a Decision Letter – mailed by March 30 for on-time applications
