Policy

Our

Maryland International Day School (MIDS) currently operates on a rolling admissions basis, offering families flexibility and the opportunity to apply throughout the year as space permits. We strive to ensure a smooth and efficient enrollment process for all applicants.


Key Information About Rolling Admissions


Application Submission

Applications are accepted year-round. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible to secure their child's spot.

A $100 non-refundable application fee is required with each submission, payable via Visa, MasterCard, or check.

Classroom Visit Requirement

All applicants participate in a structured classroom visit where students engage in grade-level activities with current MIDS students. This step allows us to assess their readiness and fit for our program.

Visits are scheduled on an individual basis after the application is received.

Required Documentation

A completed application form.

A recommendation form from your child's current teacher or daycare provider (if applicable).

Parent Questionnaire responses, evaluations, and any available standardized test results.

Parent Interview

Parents may be invited for a meeting with the Head of School or a member of the admissions team to discuss their child’s educational goals and needs.

Decision Notification

Decision letters are sent on a rolling basis, typically within 2-3 weeks of completing all required steps.

Waitlist

In the event that a class reaches capacity, qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist and will be contacted as openings become available.


Application Process

Attend an Open House or Tour

Open Houses are informative sessions held from mid-October through February.
If you are unable to attend an Open House, school tours can be scheduled by contacting the admissions office via email at admissions@themidschool.org or by calling (301) 567-9101.


Note: Parents are encouraged to attend tours without their children, who will have a chance to visit later in the application process.

Submit an Application and Parent Questionnaire

A $100 application fee is required and can be paid via Visa, MasterCard, or check.

Schedule a Classroom Visit(After Application Submission)

All applicants are required to participate in a structured classroom evaluation.

  • Students will attend class at MIDS for half a day (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.), working alongside current students on grade-level tasks.
  • Evaluations are conducted in January and February.

Arrange for Submission of School Recommendation and Assessments

  • The recommendation form, available for download on our website, must be completed by your child’s current teacher or daycare provider.
  • Additional evaluations or assessments may be requested by MIDS. Parents may also provide supplemental materials to support their child’s application.
  • The completed forms should be sent directly to MIDS.


Note: If your child has not attended preschool or daycare, no recommendation is required.

Parents may be invited for an individual meeting with the Head of School or a member of the admissions committee to discuss their child’s application.

Tuition and Financial Information

At Maryland International Day School (MIDS), we are proud to offer exceptional education at a fraction of the cost of most independent schools in the DMV area.


For the 2025-2026 school year, tuition is set at $15,550 per student.


Tuition Discounts and Scholarships

  • Sibling Discount: Families receive a $1,000 discount for each additional student enrolled.
  • Military Scholarships: Scholarships are available to support military families.


Community Involvement

As a community-focused school, MIDS encourages all families to actively participate in fundraising initiatives to support our programs and strengthen our school community.
